Harford County Photography Group is pleased to announce that “Conversations In Photography” will be returning to our regular meeting line-up in a brand new online format. Much like before, “Conversations” will be an open discussion forum, giving our members a chance to discuss various photography topics, news, history, and more. We will be offering every member the chance to head a “Conversations” meeting with a topic of their own choosing in hopes of promoting discussion and conversation.
The first of these new meetings will take place on May 25th, 2020 at 6pm on Zoom and we are pleased to have Mr. Kevin Parks heading up the discussion. A 4×6 color print of a group of children with outstretched arms taken from a balcony landed on the desk of Kevin J. Parks in 2004 when he was the staff photographer for Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. Little did he know that single image, slated for an upcoming hospital publication, would start a chain of events that would alter the course of a career and view of the world. The following year, Kevin documented his colleagues and the community they served during a 10-day surgical mission in the desert region of Peru along the base of the Andes Mountains. Kevin will share a series of images from the experience, preparation for his first international trip, challenges while on assignment, lessons learned and how that stretch of time continues to impact his work.
For more information and to sign up to head a meeting, please contact us at HCPGLeadership@gmail.com.
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy and are practicing good social distancing technique. In light of everything that is happening, we wanted to provide you with some updates on club activities. Unfortunately, all club photo shoots and excursions are, for the moment, cancelled. However, we will still be holding our regularly scheduled meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The only difference will be that these meetings will, until further notice, be held online using Zoom. We started this last month with Les Picker’s “How To Create A Photography Portfolio” presentation and it was a great success.
You may also have noticed changes to our club website. There have been a few new additions to the site, this blog included, but the most important addition is the new Media page. On this page, you will be able to review a recording of any online meeting you attended. In order to access the recording, you will need a passcode, which will be handed out or announced at that meeting. Thanks to everyone for attending our meetings and being a part of HCPG.
